How to Clean a Keurig Coffee Maker Machine

If you are like me, you love the convenience of making a cup of coffee or maybe two without having to make a whole part. I have come to love my Keurig coffee maker. Since I am the only one at home who has an occasional cup of coffee, it is more cost-efficient to use this than to use a regular coffee pot to brew a pot for one cup. Even though I love my Keurig, I am also scared of some of the things I have heard that could be growing inside of it. So that is why it is important to learn the proper way how to clean a Keurig. Follow along and see if you have anything else to add to it. Also, I have included a unique infographic below that can help you visualize each step.Â
Encountering trouble with your Keurig can be quite inconvenient, especially when you’re looking forward to a revitalizing cup of coffee. To avoid common issues such as clogs, inconsistent brewing, or even malfunctions, it’s advisable to clean your Keurig regularly. The process typically involves descaling to remove calcium deposits, cleaning the exit needle to ensure smooth flow, and changing the water filter to maintain the quality of your brew. By proactively addressing these areas, you can minimize the trouble with your Keurig and enjoy a seamless coffee-making experience.
It is very important before you attempt any cleaning of any appliance, whether it be your Keurig or your hair straightener, that you remember to unplug it from any power source. Remember, water and electricity don’t mix. So safety first.Â
So with that said, you want to gather your cleaning supplies like dishwashing soap, white vinegar, and a clean cloth. Then you will want to look at the infographic posted below to follow the step-by-step guide for detailed cleaning steps.Â
Remember that the outside of your machine, as well as the inside, needs to be cleaned. I normally clean the inside about once every 2 -3 weeks but the outside I wipe down every time I use it. I also check the water reservoir to make sure that nothing is hanging out in there. Sometimes I have noticed that a fly might get trapped in there when I am adding more water to the reservoir. So tell me, how many times do you clean your Keurig? And are there any tricks you use to clean it?
