Holiday Gift Guide: The Global Game Changers

global game changersThe book, The Global Game Changers, would be a wonderful addition to any child Christmas gift list. In this book issues like bullying, homelessness, and apathy are addressed. In the book, Global Girl explains to Little Big Heart that a dark cloud name Krumi, is spereading apathy around the world. She goes on to say that apathy is a disease where people don’t care about each other. And Global Girl tells Little Big Heart that they need to recruit boys and girls around the world to help fight Krumi.

What a refreshing story to read to children or have children read. I let Gracie read it first then I read it. Gracie liked it because as she put it the children in the story are the ones working together to make this world a better place. How awesome is that??  The story is made better knowing that all three of the recruits are real life children. Jaylen Arnold was a victim of bullying and started his own organization, Jaylen’s Challenge that educates kids about bullying. Hannah Turner, of Hannah’s Socks, has collected more than 76,000 pairs of socks for the homeless. And the last recruit was Phoebe Russell, who collected enough food and money to feed 18,000 people at the San Francisco Food Bank when she was five years old. Showing children that yes you can make a difference in this world is the amazing message of this book.

Written by mother-daughter duo Jan and Rachel Annette Helson, The Global Game Changers tells the story of fictional superhero team, Global Girl, Little Big-Heart, and their trusty dog Pixel, who search the world looking for real-life kids that are doing good things. The “Ignite Good!” maxim encourages kids (ages 4-10) to choose the charities and every day initiatives that they want to support and then to use their passions and real-life superhero
powers to impact the lives of others for the better. Find out more by checking out their website.
