Friend Alone

I have a great friend. We have wonderful lunch dates and wonderful talks on the phone. She is always a joy to be around. However this past year has been very hard. Her husband died suddenly and she was left alone. No one plans to be left so suddenly. Obviously, the sudden death was the hardest part, but what she didn’t realize was how hard it is to be alone. The quiet nights make her sad from missing him, but also scared that he can’t protect her. I finally convinced her to get an alarm from SECURITY choice. At least with the alarm, she would start to feel safe again. It is always so hard to watch someone go through something difficult. You want with all of your strength to make it better and to take away the pain, but sometimes there is nothing you can do. The most I can do is continue to be there for her and continue to keep her company. I just have to stay the friend I have always been and continue to be the friend I would want her to be.

This is so touching. It is always good to have the help of friends especially during very difficult times. I know what it is like as I lost my twin sister in 2008. Your friend is lucky to have you.
