If you have a large garden, keeping everything under control can be a bit of a challenge. There is just so much to do. Even if you leave much of it as lawn keeping it cut, fed and weed free is not easy. Flowerbeds are worse. They are even more work, although they look fantastic if you take good care of them.

Fortunately, there are ways to make a large garden easier to manage and enhance it at the same time. Using a few trees and you can create striking vistas and reduce the amount of maintenance you need to do at the same time. Here is an overview of the type of trees that can be used for this purpose.

Dogwood Trees

Amongst the most beautiful trees are Dogwoods. They are simply stunning. You can buy seven different Dogwood Trees from The Tree Center, which are suitable for residential gardens.

They come in an amazing range of colors. Some varieties have colored leaves and stems, while others produce beautiful bright flowers. Amongst the most striking is the Purple Dogwood, which has colored leaves. But, if you want to you can buy either a white or pink Flowering Dogwood. Once established they are remarkably easy to take care of. Plus, they are not massive trees. Most of the varieties only grow to about 20ft, but the white flowering variety can reach 60ft. This is something you need to be aware of before you buy.

Colored Maples

Maple trees with their shaped leaves are beautiful, whichever variety you buy. But, the Japanese varieties are particularly striking. They come in a range of colors from russet to purple and at certain points in the year; most of them display a mix of colors.

Ornamental Fruit Trees

Flowering fruit trees are particularly striking. In the spring, they are literally covered in blossom. In many cases, the entirety of each branch is covered with beautiful white or pink blooms. Most of these ornamental fruit trees do not produce fruit. But a few do, especially the plum varieties. If you want the benefit of having fruit as well as beautiful flowers you need to ask the nursery you buy from to point out the right varieties for you.

For those of you who are lucky to have the right climate, citrus trees are nice additions to any garden. The fact that they are evergreen means that they produce year-round color. With a bit of time and skill they can be crafted into lovely shapes, so you can really make a feature of mature citrus trees.
