Book Review: Arlo Needs Glasses

All three of my children started to wear glasses in the third grade. When Maddie, my oldest, got hers she cried. She did not want them. She wanted to be just like everyone else and not wear those dreaded glasses. With Mikaela it was a little easier but with Gracie it was a breeze because she wanted to be just like her sisters. I wish that there was a book like Arlo Needs Glasses by Barney Saltzberg around when Maddie got her glasses. In this wonderful picture book Arlo is a dog that needs to wear glasses. At first he did not want them but he once he gets involved with the actual picking out of his glasses he begins to warm up to the idea.

I first have to say how much I loved this book. The pictures inside were just to cute for words. Gracie read this book to Allie , our shih tzu.  Gracie, Allie, and Beary had so much fun with this book. Just check out the pictures.

Here Gracie is reading the book to Allie.

Gracie is trying out one of the pair of glasses that came with the book.

Now another pair. Allie was saying in this picture where are mine.

Now all three get to try out a pair. Can you tell they are having so much fun with this book?

Not only are there glasses to try on, children can also learn to read an eye chart, look through a machine that they will see at their eye doctor’s office and learn that they can achieve amazing things when they can see.

Check out the author’s website and the book trailer below to find out more about the book.

I received a complimentary copy of this book for the sole purpose of this review. All opinions expressed are 100% mine.
