Adventure Down the Aisle : Engagement Pictures on the Cheap
If you follow me on Instagram ( and if you aren’t why are you :)? ) you would have seen some amazing photos that I was able to take during a recent adventure that I went on. With my oldest daughter Maddie getting married this year in August ( which is just a few short months away- official freakout can begin) I have been contemplating a wedding series for the blog. And I decided that from now until the big day I will be writing about our experiences with planning a wedding from clear across the country.
For new friends and as a reminder to the old friends, my Maddie moved last June to pursue her dreams of obtaining a Ph.D. in Environmental Toxicology in California. But before she left her boyfriend, Lex, who I had already considered family and who be making the move with her, proposed to her. I was a little mad at him when I found out that I was in the dark as much as Maddie was. He did ask her dad’s permission to ask her but told him to keep it a secret and he did. So imagine my shock when she texted with a cute picture of her kitties, My and He saying our parents are getting meowed. I mean seriously how cute is that?
So he proposed in May, they were leaving in June so it did leave a lot of time for planning if fact there was barely enough time for engagement pictures. (Oh did I mention her wedding will be here in North Carolina, so most of the planning is up to me.) But since I have a Canon Rebel and an iPhone 7 plus, we decided to take the pictures ourselves.
So on a warm North Carolina Saturday, we set off to capture their special moments. You may remember seeing these pictures last year when I announced that my girl was getting married but because we did them ourselves I wanted to include them in our wedding series.
You really don’t need a professional photographer to take amazing pictures for events like engagement pictures but for her wedding, we are going to use a professional photographer who I will highlight here soon.
Follow along on this adventure down the aisle to see what we decided to splurge on and what things we are doing ourselves. I am going to be highlighting the place, the photographer, the florist, the wedding planner, the cake maker and more. So stay tuned for a lot of wedding posts up until August.
