3 Ways to Keep Busy When You’re Stuck at Home

3 Ways to Keep Busy When You’re Stuck at Home from North Carolina Lifestyle Blogger Adventures of Frugal Mom

The world is a scary place right now, y’all. The COVID-19 outbreak has changed the entire world. My kids’ schools have shut down and my husband is working from home. We’re all getting a little stir crazy, so I wanted to share these ways to keep busy when you’re stuck at home. I know things are very uncertain right now, but it’s important to remember we will get through this together.

Learn New Skills

I’m a glass-half-full type of gal. Yes, it’s easy to get wrapped up in the crazy news stories today. However, I don’t want to be pessimistic. Instead of being sad that we’re all trapped inside, I’d rather use this time to learn something new. For example, I’ve always wanted to sharpen my cooking skills. Don’t get me wrong—I know my way around the kitchen. I’d like to expand my menu, though. I’m sure my family is getting sick of having meatloaf twice a week. So, follow my lead and perfect your cooking skills while you’re in quarantine. For a simple and delicious breakfast treat to try making, check out this vegetable frittata recipe. Not only will it fill you up, but it’s also easy to make together as a family!

Write Letters

Letter writing is a lost art. I, like most people, am guilty of sending text messages to my friends to let them know I miss them. I decided to break this habit in quarantine. On day seven of being stuck inside, I sat down at my dining room table and began writing. Let me tell y’all—it was such a cathartic experience. I had so much fun expressing myself on paper. I let my loved ones know how my family was holding up and I wished them well. I plan on continuing to write letters long after this crisis is over.

Enjoy a TV Binge

Another way to keep busy when you’re stuck at home is to watch a riveting TV series. I spent a few days asking my girlfriends what show I should start. One night, after the kids were asleep, my husband and I started Breaking Bad. To say we’re hooked is an understatement. We kept promising each other the next episode would be the last, then my hubby would hit play. The series makes quarantining a little more bearable because we have something to anticipate. Although I will say, my children, are less than thrilled because their bedtime is getting earlier and earlier.
