Fall Soup Season with Semi- Homemade Soup #FallSoupSeason

Progresso Collage

Recently I read a blog post about how most parents are often made to feel guilty by other parents ( moms especially) when they don’t cook homemade food for their family. I will admit that sometimes I feel that way but other people should not be trying to make others feel guilty. But I will say that one of my heroes is Sandra Lee, the original Semi- Homemade Queen. I believe that adding a little bit of homemade to store-bought is an awesome compromise.

So when I was in the canned goods section of our local Publix I knew here was another chance for me to put my semi-homemade spin on things. My eyes fell upon the Progresso Rich & Hearty soup selection. Right there and then I knew what I wanted to make. Plus this is an excellent frugal way to make a can of soup go even farther.

Did you know that Progresso soup are made from wholesome, quality ingredients. Soup is great for all season but it is best in the fall.  Progresso has a full line of options to help you serve a convenient and delicious meal. Shop and save this soup season at Publix! We are planning our first trip to a corn maze for this weekend as well as a trip to the county fair of course our favorite fall activity, tail gating at a Carolina Railhawks Soccer game.

Fall Fun (1)

Progresso soups are delicious by themselves but adding 2 simple ingredients make them even better. Here are the two simple ingredients- 2 1/4 cups of all-purpose flour and 1/2 cup of milk. You just mix these two ingredients together to make a dough.

While you mixing these together open up your cans of soup. (This particular time I used 2 cans of the Progresso Rich & Hearty Steak & Vegetables soup. But you can use any kind of soup for this recipe. Plus my crew doesn’t always like to eat vegetables so I have to sneak them in any way I can. )

Pour the cans of soup into the pan and bring them to a boil.

After your soup is boiling place spoonfuls of the dough mixture on top of the soup. Reduce heat making a low boil and cook for 10 minutes uncovered, stirring uncovered. And then place the cover on the pot and simmer on low for another 10 minutes.

  2. I do see myself making this for my family, specially when we are in a hurry and need a quick lunch.

  3. Soup with dumplings was one of the NC staples I never did try before I left. I have a friend that makes it all the time though. She’d probably appreciate this easier version. 😉
