Things You Should Do as Far in Advance When Moving

Whether you are moving to a rented apartment or have bought a property, there are many things that you can do far in advance that will not only make moving a lot less stressful but also save you money – booking things in advance often saves you money with a lot of things in life.

Decluttering can take a lot of time but the sooner you start doing it, the easier your life will be (you’ll be amazed at how much clutter you have collected over time which you didn’t know about) Organising a moving van and professional packing services sooner rather than later will save you money and ensure you get the company you would like to use and begin to collect cardboard boxes as you’ll be surprised how much these add up to when buying them.

Below are three things you should do as far in advance when moving.

Start to declutter

We said it above, and we will say it again: The sooner you start decluttering, the easier your life will be. Over time, you will collect a lot of things that you no longer need and can throw out instead of bringing them with you on the move. As the move approaches, try decluttering room by room. This way, it’s not as messy, and decluttering is a lot more manageable. Plus, when decluttering you can try and pack a few items as you go through them.

Organize your moving van

Moving is a lot easier if you have a moving van to help you. As soon as you know the move is going ahead, try to organise your moving van as one of your first tasks to do. The reason for this is one it will save you money booking your moving van in advance and two, it means you can get your preferred slot as they can get booked out quickly. When researching moving vans, ensure you read their reviews to make sure they are reliable and get multiple quotes to make sure you are getting a good price.

Collect cardboard boxes

It’s a simple thing to do but will save you money in the long run. Ask all your friends and family members to keep any cardboard boxes they get from their deliveries and keep any you get yourself. You will be surprised at how much cardboard boxes add up to when you need to buy them for your move. If you have any shops nearby, it’s always worth asking them for some as well as they will often have a lot due to the deliveries they have.

All that’s left to say is good luck with your move and we hope you enjoy living in your new property and make it a home you are proud of.
