Shopping Fun for the Whole Family

Taking your whole family shopping does not have to be a chore. Tell your younger children that it is a game and you are looking for prizes. If your children cannot read yet, try cutting and pasting pictures on index cards and have them spot the items. Sort of like an I spy game or a scavenger hunt and if they spot all the items then let them pick out one item it can even be a cupcake or a cookie from the bakery. The reward is on your terms.

Another way is if you have older children like teenagers, divide your list among them and let them go off on their own shop. They love the independence that it gives them but also they are embarrassed to be seen with mom shopping.

Now when it comes to shopping with your husband or your wife sometimes you have to bribe them to go with you. Sort of like you do with your kids but they can be must worse. Believe I know my husband hates shopping. He is the type that wants to go in the store get what he came for and go back out. He is not a browser. So some form of enticement is needed there. I will let you imagine what kind.

That said shopping with the family can be fun if you go into with the right attitude. Just don’t go when you are hungry or have a headache that is just a recipe for disaster.
