Popular Interior Design Styles for Your Home from North Carolina Lifestyle Blogger Adventures of Frugal Mom

New interior design styles and trends are always popping up out of nowhere, it seems. This guide will help y’all understand terms such as minimalist or shabby chic.

Bohemian

In general, this style is all about vintage furniture, accessories, and colors. Another defining factor of bohemian design is worn-in fabrics and textiles, which feel more lived-in and relaxed.

Beachy

Also known as “coastal,” this style is exactly how it sounds. Characteristics of this style include bright colors and anything ocean-related. You can expect to find a lot of coral and shells in beachy-style homes, along with nautical cleats for everyday use. From furniture to home accessories, anything can be used to create a coastal-inspired design in your home. Handcrafted, beach-inspired furniture and accessories offer more originality and customization so you can have a one-of-a-kind design.

Farmhouse

This trend has been exploding all over the United States, and y’all know why! With warm tones throughout, it gives a very homey feeling and makes you feel like you’re just sitting around the table with your family.

Minimalist

This is one of my favorite popular interior design styles for your home. It features a simple and clean design. Most folks who use this style in their homes stick to a specific color palette. This way, they don’t have to worry whether or not something will work with the current décor—it just does.

Modern

With the help of brands such as Ikea and Article, the modern—or Scandinavian—style has become extremely popular, focusing on edgy furniture and clean lines. You can modernize your home in many ways, but essentially, nothing should stand out too much, with the exception of some occasional pops of color.

Rustic

This is another design style that I love. The rustic style is all about incorporating dark colors and wood. In other words, it’s very natural, if y’all get what I’m saying.

Shabby Chic

Extremely popular back in the 80s, shabby chic décor is experiencing a resurgence in popularity. It’s similar to the bohemian style, but it still incorporates some modern twists.

Traditional

Finally, we come to our old friend, the traditional style. This is a very classy style that always reminds me of walking into a fancy hotel. It’s simple enough, but it can include some statement pieces such as bold prints. With this information, y’all can finally understand what people are talking about when they dropping terms such as bohemian or minimalism. Now y’all can be trendy with these popular interior design styles for your home.
