Normally when I hear the name Lucy I think Lucy from the Peanuts cartoon as well as the tagline “Lucy , you got some explaining to do!” Lucy does have some explaining to do in the new feature film starring Scarlett Johansson and Morgan Freeman, it is not about anything that she did willing. I have had the opportunity to see ablot of different films during my years as a blogger and this is by far the freshest and most action packed one yet. Just read a brief summary.

From La Femme Nikita and The Professional to The Fifth Element, writer/director Luc Besson has created some of the toughest, most memorable female action heroes in cinematic history. Now, Besson directs Scarlett Johansson in Lucy, an action-thriller that tracks a woman accidentally caught in a dark deal who turns the tables on her captors and transforms into a merciless warrior evolved beyond human logic.

I loved how this storyline was played out. Instead of a weak female character waiting for a man to rescue her when it was a man who got into this trouble in the first place, Lucy soon learns to handle her new found abilities that even had me in awe. I wish I could move things with my mind.

There was no part in the storyline that dragged or that I felt should be cut out. The entire movie kept the viewers attention. I love how even though Lucy was becoming more computer like in her actions and motions she was still able to keep her human side intact. Scarlett Johansson did an excellent job in portraying this character. I also loved Morgan Freeman in this movie in this movie. It is great to see such an iconic actor in yet another noteworthy role.

I will have to say that this movie is not for the young. It does have quite a bit of violence and some sexual overtones but all in all it was an awesome movie. One that I would not mind seeing in theaters again.

Lucy comes out in theaters nationwide today July 25 so check your local movie theater to see if it is playing.
