Look Refreshed: 4 Tips for Treating Dark Under-Eye Circles

If you’ve ever had a restless night, you’re probably familiar with the dark circles and under-eye bags you’ll find come morning. Just like y’all, I’ve also experienced these bruise-like rings on occasion, and getting rid of them proves more and more difficult as time goes on. Because of this, I wanted to share a few of the methods I’ve used to help reduce their appearance and a few tips for treating dark under-eye circles as a whole. Read on to learn how you can obtain an edge in this struggle for beautiful skin.

Be Aware of the Causes

When I first started to hone in on the process of reducing my dark circles, I realized that I was making one of the biggest possible mistakes. I wasn’t accounting for what could’ve been causing them in the first place. As such, any treatment I tried would either be ineffective or quickly get undone by my lifestyle. For this reason, I highly recommend familiarizing yourself with some of the most common causes of dark circles. Then, you can work to avoid them in your daily life.

Use a Cool Compress

After cutting back on some of the things that were contributing to my blemishes, I started my treatment process by applying a cold compress to my eyes. I find that doing this for a few minutes each day can really help to reduce some of the puffiness in this area. It also cuts back on some of the hyperpigmentation that makes these circles so defined.

Get Extra Sleep When Possible

Another helpful tip for treating dark under-eye circles is to catch up on your sleep and develop a regular sleep schedule. I know that it’s easy to tell yourself that staying up a few extra minutes won’t hurt. But I’ve discovered that doing so can greatly increase your odds of waking up with dark circles. Getting in the habit of sleeping a full eight hours and going to bed at the same time each night can be very beneficial.

Embrace Moisturizing Eye Creams

Try using an under-eye cream that provides your skin with some hydration. I found that part of the reason why I was getting dark circles was due to a lack of moisture in my skin. Since the skin around the eyes is so thin already, it made these areas appear dull and puffy when they shouldn’t have been. Using a product that complements your skin type can also help you get results.
