How To Manage an Efficient Household for Your Family
Now y’all know I love giving other moms advice on how to run their homes (even if I struggle with it myself sometimes). Fall is here, which means—say it with me, ladies—back to school time! I want to help you learn how to manage an efficient household for your family.
Even though the kids are back in school, that doesn’t mean you’re off the hook. With school comes homework, soccer games, and school plays. But I’m here to show you that you can run a tight ship and still be able to drink that glass of wine at the end of the night.
Teach Them Responsibility
One of the most important aspects of running an efficient household is to make sure your kids are doing what they need to do.
Nowadays, kids are better at playing video games than they are at putting the dishes away! Instill responsibility in them at a young age by assigning chores.
Asking your children to help you keep the house clean is critical in running your household. A family cannot function in disarray. Clutter causes anxiety, stress, and other issues, and maintaining a clean house is an easy way to help your kids feel focused and happy.
Y’all, teaching your kids responsibility at a young age doesn’t just keep your home clean (although we certainly aren’t complaining about that perk). Chores also teach your children self-reliance and how to have confidence in their abilities, which they’ll thank you for years down the road (after they stop complaining about having to do them in the first place).
Create a Daily Routine
Create a daily routine for your family. This means communicating with your spouse about what needs to be done around the house. Every morning and night, everyone should have a to-do list of things to complete from the moment they wake up to when they lay their heads on the pillow.
If we leave our kids to do whatever they want, whenever they want, nothing will get done! Of course, I’m not saying you have to make them do chores every minute of the day. It’s just as important to schedule me time, playtime, and creative time as it is to schedule homework and bedtime.
Take Care of Yourself, Too
One of the most important ways to take care of your family is to take care of yourself. Remember, y’all, you can’t pour into someone else’s cup if your cup is empty. Schedule time for yourself and maybe hang out with your girlfriends or get a massage. Mommies need me time, too!
Have Meals as a Family
To maintain household balance and strengthen your relationships, try to have meals as a family. If everyone’s schedule is packed with games, meetings, and homework, it may feel impossible to gather everyone together at the table at the same time each night. But this is super important, y’all. Having meals together as a family carves out time to spend time together while teaching your children about healthy eating.
Running a home is no easy task, let me tell you. But when moms come together and help each other out, we can feel confident in managing an efficient household for our family.
