Here Are 5 Baby’s Skincare Tips For New Mommies from North Carolina Lifestyle Blogger Adventures of Frugal Mom

Newborn babies are highly sensitive, especially areas of mouth, cheeks, face, hands, and abdomen. But during the first few months of a life toddlers undergo numerous changes. These involve skin troubles and routine care that build pressure on new parents. Whether I am taking good care of a baby or not? This is the most annoying question, especially for new mommies. But, do not worry, some of the changes are quite common and occur due to normal hormonal changes or immature pores. But there is some prevention you need to consider to give your toddler a healthy childhood.

Let’s discuss some tips to pamper your baby;

Follow best practices for bathing.

Inappropriate baths can also invite various skin troubles. So, be mindful of the basics of bathing rules. Some of them are:

  • Always use lukewarm water, you can test the water temperature with an elbow for better results.
  • Never leave the baby unattended in any condition.
  • Always use skin-friendly products like soap, shampoo, or powder.
  • Do not extend your bath more than 5 to 10 minutes.
  • Do not use soap on the face and eyes.
  • Choose soft wash clothes only. Otherwise, it can lead to skin irritation and dryness.

Be mindful of Sensitive Skin.

Babies’ skin is very sensitive. Therefore dry patches are very common. But to come out of this trouble and to hydrate patches, the baby balm is an essential item in your baby care kit. It helps to restore the natural balance of a baby’s skin. How to choose the best baby balm? Can be your question. So, look for a rich hydrated baby balm tested by dermatologists, approved by pediatricians, and loved by parents. You can also check ingredients to ensure you have selected the most trustworthy product and brand.

Save kids from sharp nails

Babies’ nails are small and thin. Still, these are sharp. These can lead to scratches on the face and body. Therefore, it is essential to trim your child’s nails weekly or bi-weekly to protect the skin from injuries. You can use a non-metal nail file or a baby nail clipper to reduce the length. Keep in mind, infants are more active while playing or feeding, and a sudden jerking moment can cause injury. Hence, you should cut or foil the nail when the baby is sleeping.

Care for the umbilical cord

When you come home with your baby, the umbilical cord is still attached to the baby’s belly button. It will take 1-3 weeks to clear the area. So, you need to be prepared for that. It is also important to note that if you pull or forcefully try to remove the cord and keep the area clean with a soft cloth. It will help the cord to dry quickly. Still, your child faces issues like pus, redness, fever, and a large amount of bleeding. Do not neglect to consult with a doctor.

Let’s wrap UP!!

Skin is the largest organ. So, follow important bathing instructions. Apply moisturizer balms for dry and sensitive skin, trim nails more often, and do not experiment with the umbilical cord.
