Has This Ever Happened to You?????
Okay so I get a notification the other day that I had won a $30 Gift Certificate for Goods from an online store. ( I will refrain from mentioning the store right now. ) So today I went and placed an order. The person basically came back and said no you can’t order this you have to order this specific product. No where in the terms of the contest or in emails exchanged did it say that it was to be used for a specific product. I emailed this person stating that the contest stated that it was a Gift code to the store with no specifications on what it can be used for .She even stated in the email it was a $30.00 in free goods. I thought anything on her website were goods. Now this person claims that her website and her gift codes can not be product specific, unfortunately, as her website does not support this. But nowhere does it say that it has to be used for a specific product???? What do you suggest I do??? I know if it was me I would have apologized and then filled the order. But I would make sure that next time I ran a contest it has all the terms attached. What would you do??? Help???

that's how I feel too
I think it's important when running a contest/giveaway, to state the exact prize and the exact terms. Though if I was the store, I would just fill the order. Filling the order they could gain a customer! But now you will remember this incident, and would you say you probably won't shop there again? Meaning they loose a potential customer.

I agree that the rules should have been stated. I would also agree with other comment that I would not want to go back to that store which is silly of them as you do a give away to gain customers.
Do you want the product they are offering? You could always give it away on your blog.
