Eating Healthy On the Run

I receive samples of Garden Lites in order to write this post.

It seems like I go from basically my everyday routine which is busy enough as it and then all of a sudden I am slammed with events. January I just has my normal but February has and will be totally crazy. I have 6 events this week from Tuesday to Sunday. Although I am not complaining, it makes it tough to eat healthy. Enter Garden Lites.

When I was approached by this company, I honestly thought that they would be a little to healthy for my taste, meaning they would be disgusting. But imagine my surprise when I got the samples and I actually liked them. We tried two kinds as a family, the Veggie Bacon & Potato Frittata and the Blueberry Oat Muffins, which were my favorites.

First the Veggie Bacon & Potato Frittata

I really wanted to fall in love with them. Because after all I like Veggie. I love Bacon. And you give me anything with potatoes in it you are speaking my love language. But these had onions in them. And onions and I have a love/ hate relationship. I don’t like them and they aren’t my friend. Literally and figuratively. I am not kidding, when I order tacos with my Mexican husband, I always ask for no onions- they think I am crazy. Because these had such a taste to them, I was able to eat them but I probably wouldn’t buy them for my family. But I loved the convenience of taking a few out at a time. So they still are a great alternative.

Second, the Blueberry Oat Muffins

Okay, when I first opened these up, I thought they had gone bad. They weren’t like the picture on the box, but I thought okay let me try one. I loved that once again they came in individually wrapped packages so I could take as many I wanted out to try them. And I will say the color did make me hesitate but after reading the box I realized that was the zucchini. I am glad that I decided to try them because other than the color, these things were amazingly delicious. Even my youngest Gracie, who boycotts anything healthy liked these and came back for seconds.

So the verdict is yes to the muffins and no to the frittatas.
