Beauty Tools You’ve Been Using Wrong

Even if you’ve been dabbling in the makeup and beauty world for years, there are a few tools and products you might be using incorrectly. To improve your daily beauty rituals, it’s a good idea to learn about some of the beauty tools you’ve been using wrong and how to use them correctly.

Foundation

We all know moms are busy. If you’re in a hurry, it can be tempting to use your fingers for application. There are just a few flaws with this method—it deposits germs and oil onto your skin and gives your makeup an uneven finish. The best way to apply foundation is with a foundation brush or beauty blender. Squeeze a small amount of foundation onto the bristles or sponge and apply it by starting at the center of your face and sweeping it out to the edges.

Beauty Blender

If you’re using a beauty blender to apply your foundation, you’ll want to do so carefully. Dragging the blender against your skin can cause the makeup to smear, giving it an uneven, streaky appearance. Instead, I recommend y’all use a gentle dabbing motion to blend your makeup, foundation, and other concealing products.

Eyelash Tweezers

Another beauty tool you’ve been using wrong is your eyelash tweezers. Are you using the same pair of tweezers you use on everything else for your eyelash extensions? If so, I’ve got some shocking news for ya’ll. There’s more than one type of eyelash tweezer—in fact, there’s over a dozen types. Each type of tweezer serves a different purpose. Some are better for volume extensions, while others are meant specifically for isolation. Using the right type of tweezers makes applying your eyelash extensions a lot easier.

Blow Dryer

We use our blow dryers almost every single day—but are we using it right? A lot of people aren’t. If you dry your hair by waving your blow dryer around at random—and trust me, I’ve made the same mistake—you’re damaging your hair and making the drying process longer than it needs to be. Y’all should start by drying your hair at the front, and slowly move backwards. This is because there’s usually less hair in front. The less hair there is, the faster a section will dry. If your bangs or sides dry too quickly, they’ll become much harder to style!
