Anniversary Gifts That Maximize Your Fun

Anniversary Gifts That Maximize Your Fun

Love is a feeling that’s hard to express. That’s especially true when you’ve been with someone for a few years. At that point, it’s easy to feel like the playbook has gotten thinner and you’re going to have to repeat yourself. And repeating yourself is great when you’re comfortable enough to sit on the couch and watch the latest Netflix documentaries together. But when it comes to special occasions, you’ll want to go a bit farther to mark the passage of time. The time spent together is great, but it’s a good idea to express to your significant other that you’re not just existing together; you’re also having a lot of fun together. Plenty of couples stay together and love each other, but they completely forget how to like each other.

Start The Night Off Right

For past anniversaries, you’ve started the car and told your sweetheart to get in, but not this time. If you really want to set the tone for an unforgettable evening, hire a professional car service. There’s a difference between ride-sharing services and professional car services, as the former allows anyone to sign up and ferry people around. Professional car services like MGCLS, however, make sure you have an expertly trained chauffeur behind the wheel. Since neither of you has to drive, you can spend the ride holding hands with your significant other. A little kissing and cuddling can also set a romantic mood, but don’t do anything that would make the driver uncomfortable or get you arrested for public indecency. There’s a definite line between sweet displays of public affection and full-on exhibitionism; make sure you stay on the right side of that line.

It’s common to go out for dinner on your anniversary, but if you do that, make sure you book a reservation at a truly unique place. Maybe there’s a restaurant located in a skyscraper with a great city view or a place where guests eat in total darkness. Even if the experience is odd, you can at least share a laugh about it later.

After dinner, make plans for something you’ve always wanted to do but dismissed as too silly or extravagant. Now’s the time to check out that burlesque show downtown, or to head to the observatory on the outskirts of town (if you do the latter, remember that you won’t literally float in the air like Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone in La La Land; love is magical, but it’s not THAT magical). New experiences give you new ways to bond, and that gives you new memories to cherish.

At the end of the night, you can go to sleep knowing you showed your partner a great time that they’ll never forget. But just because the day ends doesn’t mean the celebration has to.

Love is a Carnival

When you were first dating, you probably went to something like the state fair. Maybe your love even asked you to win a prize for them at one of the carnival games. Well, just because your aim was off that time doesn’t mean you can’t make up for it; there are companies that will set you up with your very own backyard Carnival. Yes, there are places that offer carnival games for rent, and you can pick and choose what sort of games and concessions you’d like. A cotton candy stand might be lovely; a Ferris wheel would just alarm the neighbors. If you have kids, they’ll be thrilled to wake up and find a mini-carnival right outside their door. You might want to invite friends and loved ones over to share the love, especially since you and your partner can’t eat all those sno-cones on your own.

The best thing about a constant love is the stability it provides, but that doesn’t mean it has to be boring. So this year, when your partner asks what you should do on your anniversary, smile and tell them that how glad you are that they asked.
