Adventures in Sydney to Add to your Schedule

You or someone you know is going to visit Sydney.  In addition to visiting the Opera House and riding the ferry or a dinner cruise, you are looking to spice things up with some adventure.  Here are some activities for you to consider.

Climb the Sydney Harbour Bridge

This may be the ultimate dare-devil adventure. An organization called BridgeClimb Sydney offers several different trips to the top. Depending on the trip, expect to be 2.5 to 3.5 hours from start to finish.

Climbing conditions vary based on the weather and your choice of trip.  You can expect to climb ladders and walk on catwalks, experience prolonged stair climbing, walk along uneven surfaces, and be exposed to all weather conditions. Climbers are rewarded with stunning views of Sydney, the harbour, and the surrounding countryside.

It is very safe, as you are fully kitted out and attached to the bridge at all times.

Take a Helicopter Tour

No trip to Sydney is complete without a helicopter joy flight.  Whether you want to take a tour of Sydney and the harbour, tour the scenic Blue Mountains, or have lunch at a Hunter Valley Winery, a helicopter tour is the way to go.

A helicopter flight over Sydney is perfect for almost everyone.  Even if you are nervous at take-off, once you get up in the air, you will be too speechless to be scared.  A helicopter tour is a perfect mix of adrenaline rush without being too overwhelming.  Many have said that a Sydney helicopter tour was the highlight of their vacation.

There are even trips for the entire family.

All helicopter tour operators are licensed and regulated by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority to ensure your safety and comfort.

Surf or Bodysurf at Bondi

If heights are not your thing and you’re more comfortable in the water, consider Bondi Bay.  It has long been recognized as an outstanding surfing spot.

If you’re a beginner, there are several surf schools offering lessons.  You can sign up for individual or group lessons to learn correct techniques, etiquette, and safety tips.

Serious surfers can head to one of the more advanced surfing areas.  South Bondi offers consistently larger waves but also comes with some challenges, like rocks and a notorious rip tide.

Adventures with Children

There are many compelling reasons you should plan a family trip.

Treetops Adventures Western Sydney offers courses for children starting at age 3 and up.  You can supervise your younger children while they enjoy challenging themselves and building their skills and self-confidence on rope courses and exercises.

Older adventurers can take advantage of tree rope courses.  These will test you mentally and physically with over 100 aerial obstacles.  Spend 2.5 hours on a self-guided tour through the bush while suspended from 2-25 meters above the ground.  For those over 8 years old, there is a challenging zip coaster ride where you can ride the 330-meter-long course as many times as you can in 1 hour.

These are just some of the more adventuresome activities you can do on your next trip to Sydney.
