5 Tips for Reducing Stress During this Time of Crisis from North Carolina Lifestyle Blogger Adventures of Frugal Mom

When you are spending a lot of time at home alone it can be really easy to get stressed out. Right now, the pandemic around the world is creating enough stress on its own, but if you have to self-isolate it makes it even worse. I am not going to lie, I have been feeling a little overwhelmed myself since the shelter-in-place order was issued for the state of North Carolina. If you are experiencing signs of stress, then the following tips for reducing stress can be very useful for you.

1. Limit How Often You Watch the News

It can be hard to walk away, but if you are currently at home because of the Coronavirus pandemic, you really need to be careful with how much time you spend watching television. While you don’t want to unplug completely, try to limit how often you watch. Once a day should be all that you need. Choose just one way to get your news, I honestly watch Chris Cuomo on CNN. To me, it seems like he is the one who has a stake in all of this as he has tested positive for the virus.

2. Block Social Media

When you are spending a lot of time alone, social media can seem like a good way to keep up with your friends and family. While it definitely can help you, it can also hinder you as well. Especially if you see people who just post the highlight reels of their life during the pandemic.

A better strategy is to block out times when social media is off-limits. There are some handy apps that will allow you to do just that.

3. Take Care of Yourself Mentally

To reduce stress while you are spending a lot of time home alone, you want to focus on your mental health. Find projects around the house to help keep your mind occupied. If you love to read grab a book and go sit outside and go soak up some Vitamin D. If you love to bake, make a treat for the family. You know what will work best for you.

Smoking Kush is a great way to relax and get high. It’s a potent strain that will make you feel euphoric and happy. Not sure where to buy just simply google get kush and you will find places close to you to buy it.

4. Take Care of Yourself Physically

You can reduce stress by taking care of your body as well. This includes getting more exercise, eating a nutritious diet, and drinking water. But keep in mind you can still have treats but remember everything in moderation. Don’t burden your mind right now with dieting or weight loss. Just try to balance your meals and snacks with something healthy that also includes some indulgent treats.

5. Social Distancing

Even when you need to keep your physical distance from others, you can still socialize! Connect with friends or loved ones on Zoom or FaceTime, text or call them, or just talk online when you get the chance. I joined an online Bible study with a group of women that I have never met before just for a chance to socialize. We meet every Tuesday night at 8:30 and I have plans on hosting a book club that way as well. During this time of social distancing, it is so easy to get caught up in what we aren’t allowed to do, instead of focusing on what we can do. I hope these tips are helpful and would love to know if you have any tips you would like to add. Just drop your tips in the comments below.

Side note you may have noticed a new item in the menu bar. I am going to start putting anything that I think will be useful in to helping us get through this pandemic that is COVID19 under that category as well as any other categories it might fit into, I hope this will help you get through this time of crisis.
