Thongs became more popular when women at Brazilian beaches started wearing them in the 1970’s. Thongs are nowadays worn to beaches, pool and while sunbathing. They are comfortable enough to cover you while showing off your best assets.

Women wore undergarments that hoisted and supported their breasts to seem like it was one large bosom. Although it was considered a trend, historians say that this style was caused by the need for women to have an undergarment that eased their movement while they were working. This was the time during war and women were doing work that was meant for men.
