Covid-19

The travel industry has never been under so much pressure. The global pandemic has seen thousands of flights grounded, holidays canceled, and trips of a lifetime ruined for millions of people worldwide. Theft

Picture reaching your destination and landing at the airport. You’re waiting around for a cab, then you look down and one of your bags is missing. Or maybe you’re walking through a busy public space and you have your wallet lifted. Before you know it, your holiday has been ruined before it’s even begun! As one of the worst vacation scenarios, being the victim of theft overseas can really put a spanner in the works.

If you are the victim of theft, you must file a police report. Even if the capture of the thief is unlikely, you’ll need this report for insurance purposes. When it comes to theft prevention is better than cure, so remember to keep your valuables hidden, invest in slash and theft-proof luggage, practice safe travel and don’t let your guard down.

Falling ill/getting injured

From food poisoning to tripping over in the hotel foyer, there are countless ways you could find yourself in the emergency room whilst overseas. Good hygiene practices will help keep illness at bay, and if you’re hurt in a public place, take photographs and document the area if possible. Taking out medical insurance will cover all your medical needs whilst abroad, so don’t travel without it!

And finally, your cards won’t work!

Whether you’re trying to buy a souvenir or pay for transport, suddenly realising that your cards don’t work, and you have no access to your money is a nightmare scenario for any traveller. Banks and credit card providers will often cancel account access if they’re concerned about suspicious activity. So, let your providers know where and when you’re travelling, to ensure they don’t cancel your cards! Writing down all your card and bank providers information is also a good idea.
