4 Reasons Your Baby May Be Crying

4 Reasons Your Baby May Be Crying from NC Lifestyle Blogger Adventures of Frugal Mom

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you may have heard the fact that babies cry. Not only do babies cry, but they also tend to cry a lot.  Especially when you try to transition them to their own bed.

The reason for this is because it’s their only form of communication. They use crying to tell you that they are hungry, something hurts, or even that they need sleep. Because cries can mean so many different things, as parents, it’s not always easy to decipher what one crime means from the other. It can be downright tricky to know what your baby needs, especially during the first few months.

Fear not; however. Usually, babies are crying for the same reasons. Take a look at some of the most likely reasons why your baby is upset and what they’re trying to tell you.

Colic and Gas

Babies often have a lot of tummy troubles since they’re learning to digest. Known as colic, some babies may cry longer and harder than others. Colic is often described as a baby screaming inconsolably for more than three hours a day, more than three days a week for at least three weeks in a row. If this sounds like your baby, then you may want to look into solutions specifically for colic.

If your baby doesn’t cry quite this much, then it’s likely a question of simple gas. If your baby cries immediately after being fed, you might want to consider some sort of anti-gas medicine made for babies or holding them upright to make sure that they’ve been burped

Diaper

Believe it or not, babies will let you know when they have a dirty diaper. While some may be able to tolerate a dirty diaper for longer than others, they’ll usually let you know through crying when it’s time to clean up the mess.

Younger babies require diaper changes more than older ones. However, it’s usually a safe bet to check their baby’s diaper as the first reason why they may be crying.

Tired

It may be reasonable to think that tired babies would simply go to sleep from being tired. However, in many cases, overtired babies are so overtired that it inhibits them from sleeping. The more exhausted they get, the crankier they are, and the more they’ll hang on to staying awake. It’s important to watch the clock and make sure that your baby doesn’t stay awake for longer than a certain amount of time. The more regularly that your baby sleeps, the last that they’ll have spurts of crying due to tiredness.

Comfort

Babies require a lot of cuddling and love. Sometimes, the reason a baby is crying may not be because of a dirty diaper or sleep at all, but rather because they just need a hug. When all else fails, try holding your baby and reassuring them with your touch.
