DIY Christmas Gift Guide: Laundry Basket

AFM DIY Laundry Basket

AFM DIY Laundry Basket

This is what you need to make a homemade laundry basket.

  • A embroidery hoop I used the big size one.
  • A pillowcase ( you can buy a two pack so you have a spare)

Basically this is pretty simple to make but such a great way to keep track of laundry. Undo the embroidery hoop and fold the opening of the pillowcase on one hoop. Place the other hoop on top and tighten. Hang it on a hook and instant laundry basket.  You can make this as masculine or feminine as you need it to be. This would be a great gift for a college student.

Catching Fire Opens in Theaters Tomorrow

The other day, a friend and I were able to attend a prescreening of the long awaited sequel to The Hunger Games, Catching Fire. I will have to say that this movie is awesome. I was impressed with not only the storylines but also with wonderful scenery as well as the beautiful costumes.

I will have to admit that I have not read the books that the movies are based on, but my friend Chelsea, who went with me, has and she says that movies stay pretty true to the books. Now after seeing the second movie in the series, I will have to say I want to read the books as well. In fact, Gracie has put both the first movie and the books on her Christmas list- so I guess this will be an experience that we will share together.

But back to the movies, I loved this movie. It was probably by far the first movie I have seen in a long time that I cannot wait for the next one to come out.

I normally do not see movies more than once at the movie theaters but this is a movie that I will be seeing again. In fact, my girls and I are planning on seeing it over Thanksgiving break. Yes, it is that good. There is one part in the movie that I found a little scary so I would suggest not bringing young children to this movie or preview it before you do.

If you are a fan of the books or the first movie than Catching Fire is a movie that should be on your must-see movie list. It was that awesome.

Disclosure: I attended a complimentary prescreening of this movie for the sole purpose of this review. No other compensation was provided. All opinions expressed are 100% mine.

There are a lot of apps out there on the market and I noticed that some are better than others, so I am going to try to make a weekly blog post about apps that can assist you with anything that you need. This week blog post is about aps for fitness and weight loss. I will be telling you about four apps that can assist you in all your weight loss or fitness goals.

  • Workout Trainer- (Free) This app provides a number of free workouts based on what your goals are for you fitness levels and how much time you have to work out. Like most free apps you get a limited amount of stuff but you can upgrade for a fee to the premium level. I would suggest not upgrading until you know you like the app.
  • Fitness Buddy- ($1.99) This is like having your own little library of fitness exercises for every major muscle group right at your fingertips. You can also download Legs Trainer, Chest Trainer and Arms Trainer for free. Those apps are made by the same company. The exercises provided are a limited number but still it will get you where you need to be fitness wise.
  • Runtastic (Cost) – This app uses GPS to track your distance, time, speed and calories burned. I know you probably thinking to yourself but I am not a runner but this can be used for any long distance sport.
  • 7 Minute Workout – ($1.99) This is just what the name says it is a seven minute workout will assist you incorrectly exercising as well as timing. Some of the free workouts are free but some do cost a small amount. If you are on the go a lot than this is the app for you.

I know there are so many more apps on the market for fitness and weight loss but these are just a few I found. What apps do you use to help you track your goals?
