What To Expect When You Have a Third Child

What To Expect When You Have a Third Child from North Carolina Lifestyle Blogger Adventures of Frugal Mom

Going from two kids to three kids isn’t only a different ballgame – it’s an entirely new sport!  While expecting your third child, it’s normal to find yourself thinking, “How am I possibly going through this all over again?” After all,  you’ve finally got them to change their own clothes and go to the bathroom by themselves, and now you’re going all the way back to ground zero.   Oy-vey!

If you think everything is going to run smoothly, then you’ll be in for a big surprise.   It’s best to anticipate the challenges ahead to best prepare yourself for handling them.

If you’re expecting a third child in your family, then take a look at some of the things that you can expect to happen.

You’re Going To Need a Bigger House

Just when you thought you were already crowded enough with two kids, along comes the third.   Soon you’ll have more things than you know what to do with. Babies have a funny way taking up an incredible amount of space, considering how small they are.

This is because of all of the things that they come equipped with.  They come with high chairs, cribs, walkers, diaper changing tables, baby baths, more clothes than any human should have, and a partridge in a pear tree.

It’s a good idea to consider moving into a bigger house or remodeling your current home. Even if you think that you have enough space, you always need more than you anticipate with three kids.

You’ll Be Less Worried About Every Little Thing

When you have your first baby, you’re worried about absolutely every little rash and hiccup.   When the second child rolls around, you still have doubts occasionally, but you’re much less anxious.

However, by the time the third child arrives, you’re practically a pediatrician by this point. You’ve seen every rash, bump, and bodily fluid there is. Nothing can phase you unless it’s clearly an emergency.

It’s incredibly liberating to be able to parent without doubting yourself as much.  Having trust in your ability to parent is a beautiful freedom that a third child provides.

Laundry Will Be Endless

Laundry is an expected part of family life.   It’s not uncommon with kids to have to do one or two loads of laundry every single day.  Since they’re constantly spilling or dripping on themselves, the laundry pile is ever-growing

When you had another child, it won’t just triple the pile in your laundry basket, but it will become exponentially bigger.  The sooner that you know this ahead of time, the sooner you can go to the store and buy the biggest machine and dryer that money can buy.  You’ll be laundry for the next 18 years.
