What to Do When You’ve Moved into a New House from North Carolina Lifestyle Blogger Adventures of Frugal Mom

Moving into a new home can be a scary but also exciting experience, particularly for people who are flying the nest for the first time. Of course, moving home is never an easy thing, however, there are a few things that you can do to help make things as simple as you can. You need to make sure that you plan and organize what needs to be moved. Make a moving checklist and make sure that you stick to it, this will help you when it comes to moving.

Once you’ve reached your new home, it’s no surprise that you’ll want to celebrate straight away, but it’s important that you leave the celebration till later. Don’t forget that you will have boxes to unpack, furniture to move around, utilities to sort out, etc… So yes, well done on moving into your new home, but celebrating can wait till later. For now, you need to roll up your sleeves and make sure that your home is perfect after your move. So, here’s what you need to do.

Unpack Those Boxes

It can be quite tempting to unpack your boxes at a time that suits you, but this process can make things take a lot longer than you realize. Of course, you will want to make sure that everything has a perfect spot in your home, but once unpacked, you can move things around. Unpacking your boxes is important as you need to do a household inventory as soon as you can. Find out what you are missing, either because the moving crew lost it or because you never had one in the first place.

You’ll also want to look out for any visual damages that might have occurred during the move, anything that looks like there might have been obvious mistreatment. If you find that something is broken or damaged, note it down and let your moving company know. This shouldn’t really be a problem if you hire a reputable moving company, but obviously accidents happen. But also, unpacking your boxes is a great way to make the house your own.

Do a Deep Clean

Due to recent events, it’s a good idea to make sure you do a deep clean of your home the moment you move in. This doesn’t just mean you do a quick hoover around your home; you will want to make sure that you clean every nook and cranny and completely disinfect the place.

Nowadays, most people wish for extra help when it comes to household chores like cleaning- especially when dealing with post-moving fatigue firsthand. That’s where companies like Ivy Cleans come in. Cleaning companies such as these don’t lay down on the sofa when they’ve had enough of the backbreaking cleaning, they will typically get it all done in one go to a very high standard so that when you re-enter the house it’ll be as if all that dust and muck never existed at all.

Even if the home looks spotless the moment you walk in, it’s still a good idea to disinfect it just to give yourself a bit of peace of mind. You can find out more about disinfecting your home here: https://bretwallace.com/how-to-disinfect-your-home

Doing a deep clean will also help you find out if there is anything that is damaged in your home – say there is a loose floorboard or the wallpaper is peeling in one of the rooms. Doing a deep clean of your home will give you a chance to fully inspect every room and see if anything needs changing. This can also include inspecting the garden area outside. If the grass needs cutting, then you better get around to it. Just remember, it’s better to be safe than sorry, so deep cleaning your home is a good idea.
