How to Unpack Fast, Easy and Efficiently

Moving into a new home is an exciting time, full of fun adventures like decorating your new space and getting acquainted with your neighbors. Before the fun begins, you must first settle in and unpack all of your belongings. While unpacking is often more enjoyable than packing, it still helps to have a concrete plan before you start.

Moving Things In

Prior to unpacking boxes, all of your belongings need to be moved into your new home. To save your energy for unpacking and organizing, hire professional movers to lift, transport, and unload all of the heavy and bulky items. The First Night

Pack “first-night” boxes for each family member prior to the move so that you don’t have to search for the essentials when you’re exhausted after a long day. Some items to put in the boxes include:

A change of clothes.
Pajamas
Pillows and bedding.

You can also pack “essential” boxes for each room in the house. These boxes should contain the necessary items that will be needed on the first night and following morning. Second Day Priorities

The rooms that will see the most use should be the top priority for unpacking. Begin with the kitchen and bathrooms. Next, move on to the living room to set up the television and furniture. Personalizing Your Home

Now that all of the essential items have been unpacked, you can begin decorating. Before placing pictures on the wall, set the frames and artwork on the floor in various patterns until you find what you like best. Add curtains and blinds for privacy, and rugs for comfort. Finally, focus on the exterior of the home. Consider adding new landscaping or updating the front porch for a fresh look.
