Drowning in Sorrow or Is Sorrow Drowning You?

Have you ever heard the phrase Drowning in your sorrow or drowning your sorrow??? Well in the book Drowned Sorrow by Vanessa Morgan, this phrase takes on a new meaning. In this book Megan is a news reporter who is first in her field. She has sacrificed everything to get where she is today. I do mean everything even her family. She does not take the time to take a phone call from her daughter when she is in the middle of an important meeting. This phone call was a cry for help from her son; her daughter is calling for him. She says that she will call back when she can. A few minutes later she receives another call this time to tell her that the police and ambulance are at her house. Her son ends up drowning himself in the pool. Yes he kills himself as he is crying out to his mom for her attention. This is how the book started and then it flashes forward to several months after her son’s suicide. Megan is divorced now. Her daughter and her are about to go on a family vacation with their dog to a peaceful little village to reconnect. What Megan does not know is that village is ruled by the lake or in another words the people in the lake. Yes it is that kind of story. What happened when they got to village is amazing. Read the book to find out the details of the people in the lake.

This story reminds me of the movie “The Happening “with Mark Wahlberg. Yes I threw a Wahlberg reference (it has been a long time with that one) I found myself wondering what was actually happening in the story. Water is a major character in this book. Remember how her son drowned and the village that they went to visit was ruled by water. The villagers think that water is the answer to all their problems. Water is the ruling party at this village. I liked this book a lot. Normally this is not the kind of book that I would read. It started slow in the beginning but as the time went on it became more and more interesting and I found it hard to put down. So if you are into science fiction thrillers on the lines of Stephen King then this is the book for you. Even if you do not like those kinds of books give them this one a try you never know that you might like it.
