Make A One of Kind Journal

I am always picking up blank journals whenever I go to the dollar store. They are good to write down your thoughts and dreams, but they are also good to be able to write down what you thankful for. I am currently using one to take notes in as I am reading my devotionals. Although blank journals serve a purpose, they are just so blah. Dull looking, ordinary. I had often read that when you surround yourself with beautiful things that it will increase your positivity and after the year, I had I need some of this positivity. So I decided to spruce up my blank journal, using some scrap fabric, hot glue, and a fabric flower, I now have a one of a kind journal and you can too if you follow these simple steps.

Steps to Make a One of Kind Journal

First, go to the dollar store and buy a blank journal.

As you can see, my journal was a leather-bound one. The other materials I used are pictured. The fabric I had leftover from a pillow I made.

Next lay your journal on top of the fabric.

Make sure to cut a slit in the middle on the top and the bottom of the fabric. This will allow the fabric to lay flat. Using hot glue and a glue gun, glue the fabric to the inside cover  in the front and the back. So your journal will end up looking like this.

Next glue on the finishing touch, the fabric flower.

See with a little bit of imagination and sometimes you turned something that was ordinary into something unique. This would be an excellent gift to give that writer in your life or for any teenage girl. I know that I am going to make one for all three of my daughters. So tell me what do you think of the way I upcycled a plain dollar store journal? Now that you have this made look at this cool post about finding ideas on what to write.
