Merry Mail : Christmas Card Holder Made From Old Pallet
If there is one thing I love to do is to look at an ordinary, everyday item and give it a new lease on life. And an old pallet is my absolute favorite material to work with, why because I can get as many as I want for free. I mean seriously who doesn’t love free?
So with a pallet in mind, I set out to make a cute fireplace screen that doubles as a Christmas card holder, 2 for 1. Don’t you love it when you can find more than one purpose for an item? It is quite easy to make and require very little materials.
Materials Needed
- An old pallet
- paints
- Can of green spray paint
- Baker’s twine
- Paintbrush
- Hot glue gun
- glue sticks
Directions
- Spray paint the pallet green. Let dry.
- Using conventional paints, write Merry Mail across the top of the pallet.
- Draw a string of old-fashioned lights under Merry Mail and paint them. (Here is a secret tip- I used a black Sharpie to draw everything on the pallet before I painted it. See I told you I love Sharpies
- Cut Baker’s Twine- the length of the pallet.
- Lay several strands of baker’s twine on top of the pallet, making a criss-cross pattern.
- Add hot glue to the ends of the string to secure in place. Also, place a dot of hot glue where each strand crosses over the other one.
- Place in front of the fireplace and start collecting those cards. I added some cute mini clothespins I find in the dollar section of Target.
