Perfection- think about how many times we use that word.

  • It is cooked to perfection.
  • That picture is perfection
  • Perfection is what everyone should strive for.
  • Dressed to Perfection
  • She is a picture of perfection.

breaking up with perfect

I recently started a study called Breaking Up with Perfect by Amy Carroll. The funny thing about this study is that I am so far behind it isn’t even funny. It isn’t because it is boring but because I have been so busy. Taking time to reconnect with old friends has been my priority. At that is what landed me at the movies this past Tuesday with a bunch of friends watching Bad Moms.

I almost didn’t go because I have been suffering from a nasty sinus infection and migraines for the last week. But I wanted to see this movie- so I took a bunch of meds and got dressed. And I went.

Pura Vida Bracelets

As I was getting ready, my eyes fell on the Pura Vida Bracelets I just got in the mail. So I decided to slip them on my wrist.

After all  Pura Vida means “pure life” in Spanish. It is a commitment to living a full life without regrets, never taking anything for granted; it’s an attitude.  Pura Vida Bracelets feature unique color combinations making each one distinctive to its owner. These beautiful accessories support full-time jobs for artisans in Costa Rica as well as some charitable organizations. And I love how they give back. I also love that it is a monthly club as well. What a way to get a happy surprise each month.

These bracelets were so lightweight and amazing. And I will admit that I played with the bead on one of the bracelets while I was watching the movie.

If you haven’t been to see Bad Moms, I suggest you see it. It is all about how you can never tell what someone else is going through. That the perception we have of others having it all together is just that. Everyone’s life is not perfect. Perfection is a flawed perception. We are all imperfect.

Imperfect

That is why when I got home that night, I took my silver sharpie and wrote imperfect on the metal band. I even wrote it imperfectly 🙂 . This serves as a reminder that it is okay to be imperfect because imperfection brings us closer together as friends and as a community. So tell me how do you embrace being imperfect?

  1. I love this concept a lot. I did like that aspect of the movie. I feel that we as moms put a lot of pressure on ourselves to be perfect all the time and we shouldn’t. I love that you’re wearing the constant reminder.
