Ways To Get Moving During The Winter Months

As winter sets in, days are getting shorter and colder and with that comes more inactivity. Here are some ways to get moving whether it is indoor or outdoor.

First, let’s look at what we can do indoor to get moving. First if you are a member of a gym make sure to get full use of that membership. But if you can’t afford a gym membership, here are some exercises you can do at home. But always don’t forget to warm-up before you exercise.

  • Pushups- These are great for toning your arms and your chest. They build muscles and increases your heart rate.
  • Jumping Jacks- They burn calories and raises your heart rate as well. Plus they are great for your legs.
  • Chair Squats- These are so easy to do . Just hold onto the back of a high back chair and squat with your feet slightly apart to work your hip and thigh muscles.
  • Crunches – These are great for the abs.

These are just a few things you can do indoor now let’s move outdoor. Here are some tips to get you moving comfortably.

  • Warm up properly to avoid injury.
  • Wear layers to protect yourself and remove those layers as your body temperature rises.
  • Protect your ears, head, and hands- These are your most vulnerable areas of your body.

You can always run, walk, bike, or play sports outside in the winter to get your heart rate up. If you make exercise a part if your routine you can relieve stress, improve your health , shed those unwanted pound, and help to beat those winter blues as well.
