Time for your No-Sweat Economic Workout!

Times are tough and seem to be getting tougher… now is a good time to whip yourself into economic shape! Here are three great ideas for saving money and making your money go farther in this tough economy.

Become a coupon clipper, and USE THEM! You’ll be amazed at the amount of money you can save with coupons. Just make sure you aren’t buying items that you won’t use – be frugal. Small or large value, every penny counts, and if you put that savings aside every month, pretty soon you’ll have a nice Rainy Day nest-egg.

A few places you can find great coupons:
a) Sunday newspaper – spread it out on the floor, go through the circulars & inserts, and start clipping!
b) In-store flyers & circulars – grab them on your way in and see what’s on sale for that day.
c) Coupon websites – relatively new, they can be a vast resource for some really good deals on products you use. Check out coupons.com, savings.com, or do a web search for one of the many coupon collector & notification sites. There are many great deals to be had out there – you just have to look for them!
d) Product manufacturer websites – if there is a product that you specifically want to purchase that you can’t find a coupon for, check the manufacturers website, many offer special coupons to their website visitors,
Buy in bulk, but only those products that you will use and that are not perishable. Buying in bulk can save you a lot of money, and save you more frequent trips to the grocery store, but if you buy perishable items in bulk, make sure you use them before they go bad; otherwise you are throwing away money. Dry goods, canned goods, paper goods and cleaning products are great purchased in bulk – check out your local club stores for specials and deals, or visit the “family sized” product offerings at your local grocer.

Finally, switch to brands that offer more for the money. If you get a larger package with another brand for the same price, go for it; if you can get 2 for the price of one, go for that, too.
