The Most Versatile Cookware You Should Invest In

Cookware

If you’re after simple and smart cooking in the kitchen, having the right cookware is going to go a long way. However, the way that most people approach their arsenal in the kitchen is simply by amassing different utensils and cookware over time, resulting in a mismatch of equipment in carrying quality. While there is nothing wrong with this approach, just a little bit of planning is going to ensure that you have the right tool, at the right time, for the most efficient and tasty cooking possible.

Here are some of my favorite kitchen appliances and cookware for getting it done in the kitchen.

Slow Cooker

The slow cooker is a true workhorse and an essential for anyone that wants to be able to prepare effortless meals for a large group or someone meal prepping for a few days in advance. I’ve always loved the slow cooker for its simplicity: just toss in your ingredients, turn it on, and in a few hours you can have a tasty and delicious, soup, tender roast, or even a fancy casserole dish. With a slow cooker, the possibilities are almost endless. There are countless recipes on the Internet and you could use a slow cooker for every meal of the week if you really wanted to.

Dutch Oven

The dutch oven is a favorite among professional and home chefs because unlike less versatile cookware, it can go from the stovetop to the oven, and back with ease. This makes it perfect for not only braising meats but also perfect for creating flavorful stews, roasted veggies and even baking bread. Dutch ovens also come in a variety of colors so you can match them to any kitchen style or aesthetic. When looking to purchase, you want to make sure that dutch oven has a good thickness, as this will help it retain heat for more even cooking.

All-in-One Coffee Makers

If you are anything like me, mornings can be very hectic. One addition to my kitchen that been able to help me reclaim sometime during the morning rush is an all-in-one coffee maker that’s capable of producing drip coffee, espresso, fancy coffee drinks and cold brew iced coffee. I opt for a one-touch coffee maker that doesn’t need a lot of babysitting to produce a perfect cup of coffee, espresso or coffee drink. These are also great for entreating simply because you can produce a variety of different drinks for different tastes. For example, my husband prefers an after dinner espresso, while I opt for a decaf drip. With an all-in-one, we can both enjoy our beverages together still hot!

Cast-Iron Skillet

A good cast-iron skillet will last you a lifetime, and can even be passed down from generation to generation. I have a large cast-iron pan that my grandmother owned and is a cherished possession of mine.  Cast-iron retains heat like no other cooking surface, and similar to the dutch oven can go from the stovetop to the oven without worry. We use it in my household for roasting meats, sautéing vegetables and frying chicken. The best part about cast-iron is that the more you use it, the better the food tastes! Make sure you looking into properly cleaning and seasoning your cast-iron for the best results.

Wrapping Up

This is by no means a complete list, but if you were to invest in a quality version of everything listed above, I can guarantee that your productivity in the kitchen will skyrocket, and the quality of your meals will increase as well. While I opt for new, many of these can be found at garage sales or online for cheap, so you don’t have to break the bank powering up your kitchen.
