Spray Paint Refreshes Everything

All successful and accomplished parents eventually end up as empty nesters. This is the stage in the family life when all the children move out of their parents home to live independently or to relocate in another area. And I am fast approaching this stage in life. With Maddie out on her own, Mikaela starting college in the fall and Gracie being a sophomore in high school, it will come sooner than I think.

I have spent a lot of time thinking about what I will do when they are all gone. Moving is not an option, but I can, however, spruce up the house so that if and when we do decide to sell things will already be in place. It ‘s incredible what a little paint and hard work will do to make your house look brand new. Or at least a brand new home for us, at least.

The first thing I focused on was curb appeal. Our house is over eight years old so you can imagine how faded the paint job was. With several cans of spray paint and a wonderful husband who spent on Saturday taking down our shutters and repainting them. The shutters were a dark green, well they were until they faded. They are now dark blue.

I even took the old black bench we had outside and spray painted it red. I fell in love with that color when I saw Gracie’s Quinceanera dress.

Even the address plaque with our house numbers on it got a face lift. It is so amazing what a few cans of spray paint and a little bit of hard work can do to make a house feel new again. I will have to say that I am middle of a project for my mailbox. And yep, you guessed it, a few cans of black spray paint are being used.

Plus I added in a black tea cart which I repainted and some flowers as well as this lantern that I repurposed. And I am loving the curb appeal of my house. I will have to say that I am middle of a project for my mailbox. And yep, you guessed it, a few cans of black spray paint are being used.
