s'mores party

Last week my two younger girls spent several days visiting their sister in her new apartment. Thursday night, my husband had to work so I decided that instead of sitting at home alone I would have a few girlfriends over and host an impromptu girl’s night. So with cell phone in hand I began to send text messages to several of my girlfriends. Although three of them could actually make it, I still think we all had a good time chatting and catching up with each other.

For me this was a big step to getting back into society. You see since my dad died I have not wanted to be around a lot of people but I decided that I need to get out and be around more people and what better way to do this than have friends come to my house.

It was so nice to relax and unwind with friends after all that we all have gone through. We laughed and cried with each other. It just felt so good to know that there were others out there for support.

Hosting an impromptu girl’s night is actually very easy to do. All that you need is a simple menu, some yummy drinks, as well as a fabulous dessert.

I chose to have a yogurt parfaits, a vegetable tray, coffee, quiches and a yummy s’mores dip as dessert. Of course you can’t have a girl’s night without some adult beverages, one of my friends brought a bottle of wine.

The S’mores dip was actually very easy to make.

When I was shopping for the food for the party I saw that Walmart had at the end of one of their aisles a display for s’mores and I thought why not make a s’mores dip. Who doesn’t love chocolate? And this s’mores recipe doesn’t need a campfire to make.  Just check out this recipe.
