The Picture That Went Wrong

Ever envision a perfect picture- things going just the right way knowing your mind that this picture is going to be the best picture ever. Then it happens that perfect picture in your head go oh so wrong.  Has this ever happened to you? If it has sit back and be entertained by the picture that went wrong for me on Saturday. As I have had said before I am working on a blog post about my favorite Carolina Railhawks player, after sending emails back and forth I think I have finally figured out the angle to the story but I needed a few pictures to make the story work. So we arranged to grab some pictures after last Saturday night’s game. (Here is a piece of advice for you- never take one picture.) I entrusted my middle daughter to take pictures for me and I should have known not to take her word that the picture looked good. I thought this picture is going to be great- we will just be recreating one of my favorite pictures from last season.

Austin da Luz and Adventures of Frugal Mom

But uhm that did not happen. Let’s just say that I am totally kicking myself when it comes to what I was wearing. I put the shirt on and liked the fact that it made me look and feel skinnier, as I have said I have packed on the pounds in recent months and am working hard to get those extra pounds off. I even asked Gracie and Raul if I looked okay. Yea another mistake don’t ask your 12 year old and your husband for fashion advice. Of course, my husband would say it is okay he liked looking at the merchandise.

Now onto the picture, it was one of those deer in the headlights moments that you can’t help but be drawn to in the picture. I thought I was just being over critical so I sent it to several of my friends and they said the same thing that I thought. So it was a major wardrobe fail on this Frugal Mom’s part. Here is a word of advice don’t wear a deep v neckline shirt when you are wanting to create a perfect picture. And if you do wear one make sure that those girls (and I am not talking about my daughters) are totally covered. Just so you know I decided to share the picture with you but not the girls LOL.

  1. I am usually pretty careful about what I choose to wear if I have any kind of inkling that I will be in a photo, but yes, that has happened to me in the past.

  2. Great advice never take one pic. That has happened to me having only one pic for a special occasion adn everyone’s eyes were clsoed so now I take way too many pics

  3. this gave me a chuckle! I am sorry your picture was a little to flashy! But aside from the big “boom” it was a really nice photo 😉

  4. Your pictures are nice. We don’t have people to take ours, our kids are 6 and 6 1/2 so it’s selfies usually lol

  5. Oh I make sure they take lots and lots of pictures because I never trust that their “Looks Good” is the same as mine. Even with my blog pics, I probably take about 50 and then choose the best 4. 🙂

  6. Oh no! Can’t say I’ve had it happen but I did gets once in a lifetime chance to meet someone I’ve wanted to my whole life from a boy band. I was just 3 months post baby #5 and I looked just AWFUL. I just stood in the photo all dumb founded and now I’m kicking myself. Worst picture and it’s all I have!

  7. Oh yes, those of us who are bigger up top share your pain! I’m constantly wearing camis underneath everything, or even just resting my hand on my chest when I bend over, but I still have pictures where I can be seen showing the goods LOL

  8. Oh boy have I been there! I take many photos of the same shot bc I have a lazy eye. Half my wedding pics one eye is closed LOL.

  9. I once took a selfie of my big pregnant self, sent it to my daughter (teen at the time), she showed it to her mom’s friend and she was like ‘What is that?’ Yep I did not realize my shirt was really see through and I was being exposed.

  10. I had a picture i took during a meet and greet with Kris Allen and it came out blurry. Wish I had thought to have his manager take more then one.

  11. Oh lets not even talk about all the photos on my phone! lol. I take a million just in case! You are not alone.

  12. When I was 21 me and a bunch of friends (I lived in OK at the time) drove down to TX to Six Flags. The heat was over 100 degree and we wore our bikini tops. It helped with the water rides. So, we were on the tallest roller coaster and we got to the top peek and went flying down. There are camera’s to snap your moment. Well, my moment was clear. My poor boob had come out of my suit. Me and my friends had a good laugh. It did get old have a bunch of guys trying to get my number or snicker as I walked past.

  13. Oh my goodness, wow I totally don’t think I would have handled that well at all.

  14. I hate when I have a photo taken and it ends up blurry or we only got one take. I try to make sure people (if they’re using my camera) take multiple photos. I have some pretty hilarious outtakes of my family last weekend.

  15. I can relate but it is embarrassing. I have big girls so sometimes they have a mind of their own.

  16. Oh, I can so relate to this story and, yes, it’s great advice to take more than one picture and to not take the photographer’s word that it’s a good one!

  17. That is so funny! I am sure it isn’t to you necessarily but as an outsider it is. I have a few low cut shirts that wouldn’t make good photo outfits.

  18. I don’t let anyone take pictures of me under threat of a broken camera! But when I was a senior in High School the photographer kept pulling that V lower and lower on all the shall we say well developed girls. My Mom took one look at that picture and had a photographer friend of hers take a senior pic of me wearing a Nehru neck!! Needless to say she did not buy those pics–and one of my dogs got a hold of my yearbook and shredded it–I wonder if my Mom told her to do it?

  19. So funny. I can relate. My family doesn’t take pictures as serious as I do so they don’t care how it comes out. I’ve made them take retakes on more than one occasion. lol

  20. I thought the photo’s looked good. I did not see the deer in head lights look.

  21. We all have had photos that were not what we thought. I had bought a shirt for my youngest and it said something with the word pass on it. I took a photo and the shirt was bent and all you could read was a$$ – my husband caught it immediately.

  22. Thanks the top part of the picture looked great but below the neck not so much LOL

  23. My girls aren’t that big so I was like whoa what happened there. No wonder why my husband loved the shirt.

  24. The deer in the headlight look is in reference to you couldn’t help but look.

  25. So funny. It’s great that you can share this and talk so candidly about the whole ordeal! I typically have to take 10 photos to get a good one!

  26. I hate when that happens. You take a few photos thinking they are going to be great and something always happens to make it all wrong.

  27. You absolutely just made my late night stalking of blog posts that much better. I think as women we have all been there and done that. It created a memory that you will remember for a lifetime too 🙂

  28. I’ve had that happen too. Celebrities aren’t the only ones w/wardrobe mishaps, ahhaha Maybe you can clone stripes over the deep part of the V w/photo shop. 🙂

  29. I always hate looking at myself in pictures anyway so I’ll probably never say it’s good. But there have definitely been some especially awkward ones.

  30. t has definitely happened to me. I love how you covered it with flowers. I confess to having used Photoshop to create an “undershirt” look. I guess “our girls” are very outgoing, which is why I wear a real undershirt with every dress and shirt now LOL

  31. Pictures are SO hard to get perfect – especially pics of yourself! How do you not notice the chin/gals/tummyfat/etc – which more than likely are only noticeable to you??

  32. You definitely never want to take just one picture. I take tons of them. I even take pictures before I leave the house to make sure what I am wearing looks good in photographs and to figure out how to stand to make it look the best.

  33. I despise getting my pictures taken for just that reason. There always seems to some sort of wardrobe malfunction, bad lighting or just a hideous angle. 200 takes & I might get 1 decent photo.

  34. Sometimes I think I look good…then I see a picture. WHAT?! I now get my husband or kids to take a picture of me before wearing a new outfit. 🙂
