My Northern Roots Show With These Fluffernutter Cheerio Bars

I have a confession to make even though I was born and raised in the South, my roots are actually in Massachusetts. Both my mom and dad were born there, and I still have relatives that live there. Go Red Sox!! Being a southern born girl with northern parents, I got the best of both worlds. And the food OMG there is nothing like clam cakes and fluffernutters.

When my girls were starting to eat table food, my mom introduced them to fluffernutters. That strange phenomenon of marshmallow creme and peanut butter in between two crackers or two slices of bread. OMG! my mouth is watering just thinking about them. I remember one day I made fluffernutter sandwiches for my girls for their lunchboxes, and they came home telling me how they got funny looks and then kids asked to try their sandwiches. Before too long, my phone was ringing off the hook, with parents asking for the recipe.

These memories came flooding back to me in the cereal aisle of our local Publix store. I know, isn’t it crazy when the littlest of things can bring back memories. I decided I wanted to recreate the fluffernutter sandwiches of my childhood as well as the childhood of my girls but I wanted a different take on it. I decide why not make fluffernutter cereal bars.
