Jamaica is Calling My Name

jamaica

It is no secret that I love to be near the water. Put me near a body of water, whether it be an ocean, lake, pond, or even our swimming pool and a sense of contentment comes over me. I don’t know if it has something to do with my astrological sign, Cancer the crab, but I can be having the absolute worst day or week but get me near water and all those things that bothered me before just seem to float away on the waves.

I often think of what it would be like to travel to a foreign country and experience all the bodies of water that they have to offer. Lately, I have been thinking a lot of about Jamaica. My mom wants to take the whole family on a cruise for Christmas,  and I am tempted but with all the immigration issues, I am not sure if I want to put my family at risk.

So right now I can just dream of a Jamaican vacation and research as much as possible. Why do I want to go to Jamaica? Well, for one thing, it is a beautiful place to visit. But it also has some awesome health benefits as well.

The first health benefit for me would be the sense of peace and calm that I would get from being near the water. Think about how much lower my blood pressure would be and I am sure that the stress would just melt away.

And then think about what an amazing experience it would be to try new things, hiking the countryside or just roaming the streets of the market. Yep, you guessed it another health benefit, plenty of exercise.

And speaking of trying new things, what about the fruits and vegetables. Eating right and healthy is another great way to experience all that Jamaica has to offer.

And seafood galore, did you know that fish is good for you? I have tried to incorporate more seafood into my diet. But sadly, I don’t always succeed as most of my family are not seafood lovers. My husband would be the one person that would go into a seafood restaurant and order a hamburger.

Plus think of the educational opportunities to learn about a new place or even a new culture. Continuing learning helps keep your brain active and healthy. Who says you can’t teach an old dog new tricks?

And another thing, I can just imagine myself falling asleep to the sounds of the waves crashing the beach. If there is one thing that I have learned is that if I don’t get enough sleep, I become extremely ill. I have found that this is one of the things that trigger my migraines. And right now, I know I am not getting enough sleep as I can’t seem to get my brain to turn off at night, but in Jamaica, I don’t think I will have that problem.

Also, I have to add that how friendly the Jamaican people are will have to add to the health benefits as well. Think about it. Need I say more?

And the air quality is so much better. I do have trouble from time to time with my breathing as I suffer from chronic bronchitis. Fresh air does everyone a world of good.

Some  Jamaica Trips are just what the doctor ordered. And once I get through Gracie’s Quinceañera, Maddie’s graduation from College and Mikaela’s graduation as well I just might be planning a trip to the water.
