InSightec: Cutting Edge Technology

I have shared before that I lost one of my sisters to Cancer at the young age of 28. When I was approached by a company to review their website and to get the word out, it brought back a lot of old feelings but happy ones.
Now with this review I can tell you, Karen’s story. Karen, was the sister closest to me in age. My two others sister were 8 and 7 years older than I was but with Karen and I even though were 3 years apart, there was only a year between in school ( because of where her birthday fell). Karen met her husband, Jerry while they were still in middle school. After she graduated they got married. She was diagnosed with asthma at age 15 and because of that the doctors attributed her irregular breathing to her asthma. In 1994, they discovered a cyst in one of  her ovaries and in her uterine wall. The day she was going to get it removed she was walking down a flight of stairs and sneezed and the cyst burst. It was determined that the drainage from the cyst contain precancerous cells. So chemo was ordered. Still she had trouble breathing. In April of the following year she was taken to a major medical facility in our state to be finally diagnosed with tumors all along the right side of her body and inside both of her ovaries. Also to top it off the cancer had attacked her lungs to the point that 90% of her lungs were covered in tumors. In May of the same year, the decision was made after being on a respirator for a while, to let her pass in peace. (I showed her grave on our last visit to the beach) She missed out on being an aunt and a mom herself.
With that said, I believe that if Insightec had been used in her treatment that she would have had a better chance to survive. InSightec provides equipment for MRI guided Focused Ultrasound Surgery (MRgFUS) as a preferable treatment for uterine fibroid and as a replacement for hysterectomy. It treats uterine fibroids non-invasively in an out patient setting without the need for general anesthesia or hospitalization, greatly reducing recovery time and the risks of side effects. MRI guided Focused Ultrasound Surgery is the cutting edge of fibroid treatment without the cutting. Please help me to rise the awareness of such an awesome use of technology by following InSightec on Facebook, Twitter,  and YouTube. I sincerely believe that my sister would have a better chance of survival if this technology would have been available in her treatment. Please help to raise the awareness of this new technology and if you are facing this ordeal please ask your physician if this is an option for you.

The opinions expressed in this piece are mine. I only recommend products or services I  would use personally and believe will be good for my readers
