- Don’t panic. Those who love and depend on you need you to stay calm and smart.
- Don’t pay off your debts with severance pay, stock plans, or any lump sums you might have received upon separation from your employer. You’re going to need those resources for living essentials.
- Determine how long you can hold out using your cash to cover the bare necessities. This will give you a clear picture of what you need to do.
- Make a job-hunting plan. Network! You never know when an acquaintance or a friend of a friend might be looking for someone with your exact qualifications.
- Keep a positive attitude, even if you have to fake it for a while.
- Consider taking temporary employment provided it is in your field or profession.
- Remember: Everything is going to be okay!
