Holiday Gift Guide: Courtney Saves Christmas

Courtney Saves Christmas is cute book for children about a penguin who helps Santa saves Christmas.
This is a refreshing new take on an old Christmas tale. I love how Courtney sets out to find Santa only to end up helping him when Rudolph gets sick. How cool is that? The story was short enough to hold a young child’s attention and would be a great bedtime story for this time of year. It is also a story that an emerging reader can read on their own. Gracie read this story as a bed night story (that is what she calls it) to Allie. She loved it but of course anything with penguins she loves as well.
As a parent I loved this story. I loved how Courtney decided to not be selfish and only think of herself when given a wish, but instead thought of everyone else instead. If you are looking for a cute book during this season of Advent, consider this book. This would be a cute thing to add to your Advent calendar as well as on your Christmas shopping list for any children on your list.

Here is a brief summary. Courtney is a peppy young penguin who just loves exploring, and is overjoyed when she receives a compass from Santa on Christmas morning. She’s so grateful for the gift, in fact, that she just needs to give Santa a great big hug and say “Thank you!” in person. The only problem is she lives in the South Pole, and Santa is all the way on the other side of the globe!

With the aid of her new compass, Courtney sets off on a journey that takes her almost an entire year. By the time she reaches Santa’s workshop, the elves are in a flurry preparing for the upcoming holiday. Unfortunately, Rudolph is feeling very sick—too sick to guide the sleigh. If Courtney can’t find a way to help, Christmas will be ruined and all the children of the world will be devastated. What’s a little penguin to do?
