Wow, where does the time go? Just yesterday it seems that I was bringing Maddie home from the hospital. And now within the last few weeks,  I have not only been witness to her college graduation but also been a bystander as she shows her sister around the college she will be attending in the fall. I look back and wonder where this colicky baby that kept us up all night went. She has turned into a beautiful and responsible young lady.  Who not only works full-time at the nursery school on campus but was able to obtain her Bachelor of Science degree in psychology ( might I add her class was the first class to graduate from her University with a psychology degree) within three years.

As I sat and wondered one day what to get this girl, who has accomplished everything  she put her mind to,  as a gift, I couldn’t help the think of the classic gift. I don’t know if it was because we just did her sister’s quinceanera and The Great Gatsby was on my mind or if it was something else. I just knew that the gift not only had to symbolize the young woman she has become but also share in some of the traditions in my family.

That’s when the idea of pearls came to me. You see, when I was younger I loved borrowing my grandmother’s pearls from my mom’s jewelry box. It was my favorite thing to dress up with, I felt so elegant wearing those Pearls. I toyed with the idea of getting Maddie a pearl necklace, but realized she’s not much of a jewelry person but earrings on the other hand she loves.

So when I was given the chance to show how even Frugal moms like me love pearls, I knew this would be the perfect gift for my Maddie girl.

I mean what young girl doesn’t need a pair of pearl earrings in her jewelry box. And these earrings from The Pearl Source were the perfect gift for this girl, graduating from college, who has accomplished so much.

As you can tell we are totally proud of our graduate.

  1. Yep and I told her that this could be something that she can pass down one day to her children.

  2. Congratulations! What an exciting time. I keep joking with people that my son, who is 5 months old, is growing so fast that before I know it, he’ll be in college and that seems like even more of a reality reading this post! Pearls are such a beautiful gift; did she like them? I wore my grandmother’s pearls with my wedding dress so I agree that they’re such a meaningful gift.

Also, Best of luck to your daughter in grad school.
