GP: Hand Towels – Handy Saviors from Germs and Infection

AFM Hand Towels

Health goes hand in hand with hygiene. We are always being exposed to germs and dirt and we have to clean up our surroundings to avoid the spread of germs and infections in our homes. Hand towels offer great protection and are great to have at hand for those quick spills and sticky children’s fingers. You can get a wide variety of towels in various colours, materials, shapes, textures and sizes at Brosch Direct

You can clean your hands with a towel to remove the dirt and germs when you are not able to get to a sink or bathroom. They’re also great if you are suffering from a cough and cold due to the fact that they are useful for covering the mouth to prevent spread of germs and to clean up and collect unwanted dirt and mucus.

If you are exposed to dust, placing a towel on your nose will protect the respiratory system from dust especially for patients of bronchitis, asthma and respiratory disease.

Towels are also useful for wiping off sweat during hot weather, cleaning up spillages and messes and adding padding and protection when packaging food for transportation.

It is important to keep your towels clean and wash them properly to make them germs-free. You should keep separate towels for cleaning your skin and for other, food-related tasks. Only buy towels with high-capacity for absorption and ones that are made from natural fibres so that you can reuse them again and again.

Hand Towels – Need To Maintain Their Hygiene

Electric hand dryers are becoming more and more popular, especially in public toilets and restaurants. An example of this would be the Dyson Airblade. However, it has been shown that hand towels may be more hygienic than electric dryers. A recent report showed that the advantages of paper towels include faster drying, less contamination and removal of more bacteria. More information can be found on the NHS website.

People normally tend to buy the towels that are most appealing from their looks. That’s just fine as long as you first check their functionality. Good towels are ones that absorb and dry quickly. Cotton varieties are suitable and lighter so they dry quickly.

Washing Non-disposable Towels

The most essential step in the cleaning of towels is disinfecting them. Besides cleaning the stains on them, you also have to get rid of the germs. This is why you should soak and wash them in warm water. You can also use a mild disinfectant while washing the towels.

For light coloured towels, bleach can be used to remove the dirt. But bleach is not good for the skin so look for a better alternative. You might not need such an abrasive cleaner anyway, if you regularly wash your towels. Washing them frequently will remove all the dirt and the germs and is a very important aspect of kitchen, bathroom and personal hygiene.
