Driving Tips For Teenagers

Driving Tips For Teenagers from North Carolina Lifestyle Blogger Adventures of Frugal Mom

If there is one thing that I have stressed to my daughters when they started driving, it is to be aware of other drivers. I often found myself telling them, that drivers today are crazy! It almost like you have to take a defensive driving class to get your license. Seriously, folks, it is that bad and we live in a small town. Here are some of the things that I have taught my girls to be aware of when driving.

  • Always leave more than enough space between your car and the car in front of you. First, because you never know when the car in front won’t use their turn signals and decide to turn (Yea I am amazed at how many cars don’t come with turn signals these days) or when they stop suddenly. Also, you never know when another car might decide to come over in your lane even when there really isn’t enough room.
  • Second- be aware of the cars surrounding you. There are too many people in a hurry to get where they are going that they forget to be cautious. Reckless driving causes so many wrecks. Take for instance the accident we had back in 2014, it was on a Thursday before the  Easter weekend. The light has just turned green, the car in front of us hadn’t moved yet, so we hadn’t moved either. But the guy behind us decided he wanted to move all of us and proceeded to plow into the back of our car. Over a year later the accident was finally settled with tons of medical bills left to pay. So being aware of your surrounding especially during holidays is a most.

Have you noticed that there are more hazardous road conditions during holidays and bad weather than during any other time of the year? Just check out the statistics here.  So yea, that is why I tell my girls to be careful when driving especially during the holidays.
