Discussing the Do’s and Don’ts of Proper Contact Lenses Care

“I wrote this review while participating in an Influencer campaign by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Johnson & Johnson Vision Care, Inc. and received a promotional item from Mom Central to thank me for participating.”

proper care of contact lenses

When I was younger I tried wearing contact lenses, but unfortunately my eyes would not cooperate with the lenses. They would just slide right out. Thankfully my two older girls did not have the same problem that I did and they have been able to wear contact lenses as soon as they were old enough to put them in themselves. They say the eyes are the windows to the soul so why wouldn’t we want to make sure that we take the best care of them. Did you know that a lot of eye infections come from the improper care and use of contact lenses?

Johnson & Johnson Vision Care, Inc.,  manufacturer of ACUVUE® Brand Contact Lenses reminds us – especially teens – how  important it is to practice safe contact lens wear and care . Here is a list of dos and don’ts when it comes to wearing contact lenses.

Proper Care of Contact Lenses

THE DO’s

  • Wash hands with soap and water and dry with a lint free towel before handling your lenses.
  • Put your contacts on before you apply any makeup.
  • Remove immediately if you experience eye discomfort, excessive tearing, vision changes or redness. (This is one thing that my girls are diligent about doing.)
  • Always remove and clean according to the directions that your doctor gives you.

THE DON’TS

  • Wear other people lenses.
  • Wear lenses longer than recommended.
  • Rinse lenses in water.
  • Don’t use anything other than the recommended solution when cleaning your contact lenses. That means no licking them with your tongue.

My girls are very good about following most of these rules and I will have to say that they were beautiful for they got contact lenses. But now they are just downright gorgeous. I just wish that I was able to wear contacts but my eye won’t cooperate. I know soon Gracie will probably want to join the ranks of contact lenses wearers so I hope that she has been watching and taking notes from her sisters’ about what not to do and what is best when wearing contact lenses.
