A Birthday Week Full of Highs and Lows

This week has been filled with ups and downs but on the whole I could not have asked for a better birthday week. On Tuesday, I was invited to attend the preview dinner at Mesa Latin Kitchen. I decided to invite my friend Kathi along as we don’t get together often. But somehow we always manage to get together around my birthday week. Go figure. We had a fabulous time and it was great to get away for a while and just forget about life.

Then on Wednesday, we headed to Charlotte for the Gold Cup game. My whole family are big soccer fans so you can imagine the excitement that we all had. My husband was finally going to be able to see Mexico play. We bought these tickets awhile back because Mikaela’s favorite player is Javier “Chicarito” Hernandez plays for the Mexico National Team. She was so excited that she was going to see him play only to be disappointed two weeks before the game when he broke his collar-bone. So yea she didn’t get to see him play but she still enjoyed the game. Before the game we were able to eat at our favorite Mexican restaurant La Azteca before the game. We sat through the first game Cuba vs. Guatemala. The game was almost over when I hear these words, “Momma, Gracie getting sick.” As I looked at my youngest I see that she has indeed gotten sick and was in the midst of a mild seizure.

We ended up  in the Care Center for a while. We were able to get back to our seats as the Mexican National Anthem was being played. We were told if another seizure happened we would be going to the hospital. I will write more about the game in another post.

Carowinds

Thursday we set off to Carowinds. As an official blogger for Carowinds, we took the opportunity to go check out the park. Remember last year my family went to Carowinds for my husband’s work but because I didn’t feel very well , I had to stay behind at the hotel. So I was finally excited to check this out. Look for more posts about Carowinds. But check out my Instagram for a cool video.

Love seeing all these sets of feet together.

After Carowinds, we headed out dropping Maddie off at her apartment along the way. Then we headed home. The traffic in Raleigh was horrible but the scenery was incredible.

Scenery on trip

Which brings me to today my actual Birthday. My beloved Railhawks are playing at home tonight and they are playing a team that have my favorite two former Railhawks on it. Sadly Julius James won’t be there as he just recently broke the bottom two bones in his leg but I am still looking forward to seeing Cesar Elizondo play. Hopefully we will get a chance to chat with him. Already feeling a little disappointed as some of the family have backed out at the last-minute. This is the same family that we asked several times are they sure they can come so we got tickets for them. So now we are out the money for the tickets. SMH what family can do. But I am still looking forward to spending the night with my family and one of my good friends and her family. So look for that post soon.

It certainly has been a week full of highs and lows.
