Eucalyptus Globulus has an earthy, fresh aroma and is used in many skin care products for its cleansing properties. The health benefits of eucalyptus oil are well-known and wide-ranging, and its properties include anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic, decongestant, deodorant, antiseptic, antibacterial, stimulating, and other medicinal qualities. It is colorless and has a distinctive taste and odor.
Uses for Eucalyptus Essential Oils
Respiratory:
It is effective for easing a number of respiratory problems, including cold, cough, runny nose, sore throat, asthma, nasal congestion, bronchitis, and sinusitis. Eucalyptus oil is antibacterial, antifungal, antimicrobial, antiviral, anti-inflammatory and decongestant in nature, which makes it a good ingredient in many medicines that treat respiratory problems.
Air Cleanser:
Try putting a few drops into your vacuum and clothes dryer filters to freshen them up and sanitize them a little. Also, it’s great for killing mold in your home, and you can mix eucalyptus with other oils like clove and tea tree oil to cleanse the air and maintain a mold-free home.
Wounds:
Eucalyptus oil has antimicrobial and antiseptic properties that are effective at treating wounds, burns, cuts, abrasions, sores and scrapes. It also can be made into a salve or healing ointment and put on bug bites and stings. Along with acting as a natural pain reliever to the area, it also keeps the area from getting infected, which speeds healing.
Grease Remover:
One of the more surprising uses for eucalyptus oil is as a degreasing agent. It is an excellent cleanser to remove workday grease and grime, while also rejuvenating and soothing sore hands and feet. Simply add a couple of drops of eucalyptus oil to a bath of sea salt and Epsom salts.
Hair Nourishment:
A few drops with some coconut or olive oil gives your hair a nice moisturizing pick-me-up. This is especially great to ward off dandruff and an itchy scalp. Also, eucalyptus is used as a natural remedy for lice in replacement of chemical treatments.
