AFM Pledge floors

A couple of weeks ago, I wrote a post about how excited I was to be an ambassador for Pledge and their new products for hardwood floors. I don’t not have a lot of hardwoods in my house but where I do have it, is in the most heavy traffic area in the house, which is my laundry room which opens up to our back door. We enter and exit our house most of the time through our back door because it closest to where we park our cars, so you can just imagine how much traffic it gets from a family of five and two fur babies as well.

I will have to say that I was pretty impressed with how well the Pledge FloorCare Wood products worked on our little space. I will have to say that my favorite product in the care kit was the wood squirt and mop. I loved this product. I could just squirt it and then use my mop. It saved me time and a lot of backaches using this product. I found that the best time for me to use this product were when my husband had left for work and the girls had left for school, during that time the house was quiet and there was less of a chance for me to yell at them not to walk on the wood floor. LOL The biggest challenge that I had was keeping Allie our two year old Shih Tzu off of the floor. She not only wanted to walk through it but also wanted to help me. I mean does look like a mop. I loved that it was gentle enough for her paws. Anything that does not harm my little fur baby is a must in my book.

Pledge Ambassador Badge

With a husband that is a mechanic, I always have to clean my floors with heavy duty cleaners because he does not take his shoes off when he comes in the house. He normally takes them off in the laundry room, where the wood floors are. I was impressed with how quickly those stains that he left could be cleaned up.

Here is a chance to win a kit for yourself. This is a flash giveaway which will end tonight at midnight.

christmas night

As a little kid, I would love to hear my dad read me the poem ‘Twas The Night Before Christmas. It was my favorite story and it is still now that I am older. But now I have another new favorite, The First Christmas Night, is going to become a new tradition in our house. Written with the same lyrical telling of ‘Twas, The First Christmas takes young readers on a journey that fateful night when Jesus was born.

As a teacher, I can see how this will help children to match up rhyming words. It would be an awesome book to use in homeschooling and children ministries. You could even sing it if you felt like it. It would also be great to include in family story times during the holidays because it also includes the actual Biblical passages in the back. This book is beautifully written and illustrated that will be sure to catch the attention of young children who the story is going to be read too.

This book would be great for any 4 to 8 years old on your holiday shopping list. You could also buy it for anyone who homeschools or who is involved in ministry in some form. The price of this book is $16.99 but it is so worth it for this beautifully written and illustrated book that will sure to become a Christmas classic and favorite in your house. It is available through the publisher’s website.

Freebie: Mom on The Go Cookbook {Kindle}

Mom On The Go Cookbook is a book full of fast, easy, and yummy recipes for the busy family. I am a wife, mommy, I work full time, and I am pretty tired when I get home on a weekday. Having said all of that, it is still very important to me to provide my family with healthy, delicious, home cooked meals “most” nights so we can sit down together and enjoy. After years of dining out, and attending parties and potlucks, I became inspired to recreate some dishes in my own kitchen with my personal spin on them to make them simple and quick. Chicken and ground turkey meats are my preferred meats to cook with but any meat would work for these dishes. I cook a variety of foods from your typical American cuisine to Asian and Mexican dishes. I think this cookbook has a little something for even the pickiest palate. I hope you enjoy my cookbook and that it inspires you to cook more often and get creative in your own kitchen.

DIY Christmas Gift Guide: Earring Holder

AFM DIY Earring Holder

This post is part of a gift guide that is intended to get your creative juices flowing and to save you money by making your own Christmas gifts.

AFM DIY Earring Holder

Materials Needed:

  • Embroidery Hoop
  • Burlap cross stitch fabric
  • Lace ribbon
  • Lace rosette
  • Hot Glue gun
  • Hot Glue Sticks
  • Scissors

The first thing you need to do is unscrewed the embroidery hoop so that you can place the burlap cross stitch fabric between the two hoops.  Then cut the excess fabric off . This will leave a clear edge around the hoop. This step maybe the  hardest step because the embroidery hoop might be a  little tough to unscrew. Once you do this, then hot glue gun needs to come out. Working a little section at the time,  hot glue the lace fabric around the edge of the hoop. This step  will probably take the longest because you have to wait for the hot glue to heat up and then sometimes  you might have to reapply the glue because it would cool before you could get the fabric down. That is why I suggest working in little sections at the time. After the lace is all hot glued, then hot glue a rosette to the bottom of the frame.
